Belgrade Analytical Circle (BAC) was founded in 1991 as an association of academically educated people from Serbia, interested in analytical psychology of C. G. Jung. It was the first Jungian organization in Serbia with the goal of introducing analytical psychology of C.G. Jung and his successors to professionals and the public. BAC is a member of the Serbian Union of Associations for Psychotherapy (SDPS).

In December 2001, the BAC acquired the status of an IAAP Developing Group. The aim was to make it possible for analytically oriented psychotherapists, members of the Belgrade Analytical Circle to pursue Jungian Analyst training to become full IAAP members.

Cooperation with the International Association for Analytical Psychology was enhanced in 2003, after the first international gathering that took place in the Belgrade City Hall. The meeting was attended by the then President of the IAAP, Mr. Murray Stein, as well as eminent IAAP members Renos Papadopoulos and Josip Pašić.

Professor Vladeta Jerotić and Dr. Velimir Popović were the first members of the Developing Group to acquire the status of recognized IAAP Jungian analysts. The IAAP training was pursued by other group members, including Dr. Jelena Sladojević Matić, Dr. Mariana Popović, Dr. Bojana Stamenković Rudić, and Dr. Marko Vuković, first to became Jungian analysts.

In October 2007, the name of the Developing Group was changed to – Srpsko analitičko drušvo (SAD), i.e., the Serbian Analytical Society (SAS). Basic information about the Society can also be found on the IAAP website: http://iaap.org/developing-groups-router-groups/serbia/.

Over the past thirteen years, the Developing Group has expanded and currently has seventeen members, six of whom have the status of recognized IAAP Jungian analysts. During the continuous educational work, the group has the opportunity and great pleasure to cooperate with eminent members of the International Association for Analytical Psychology, through various activities – lectures, workshops, group and individual supervision, discussion groups.

Some of the internationally recognized Jungian analysts who collaborated with the Serbian Analytical Society are still guest lecturers and supervisors in the Developing Group: Dr. Murray Stein, Dr. Renos Papadopoulos, Dr. Mary Addenbrooke, Dr. Josip Pašić, Dr. Jan Wiener, Dr. Angela Connelly, and Dr. Jozef Magdič. The number of eminent DG lecturers is continuously increasing by adding important analysts and prolific authors in the field of analytical psychology to the list.

The main goals of the Serbian Analytical Society are the following:

  • Study of analytical psychology, the work of Carl Gustav Jung and his successors, critical reflection on its concepts, monitoring its development and its application in practice.
